Heritage Power AmplifierHeritage Line

The Heritage power amplifier is the latest high-end amplifier from Orpheus. Its internal topology is based on a complete dual mono architecture. The amplifier has several operating modes: stereo, mono and bi-amp. The rated output power is of 2 x 250W in stereo and bi-amp mode. In mono mode the output power is of 1 x 1000W (on 8 Ohms). Using two separated power supplies and amplifier boards in stereo and bi-amp mode, makes the two channels of the amplifier totally independent to minimize channel-to-channel crosstalk. In mono mode all the cards are interconnected together in order to deliver the maximum power to the load. The different modes of the amplifier and its high power allows it to be used with a wide range of speakers.

The power amplifier uses a class AB output stage based on four hand matched pairs of mosfet power transistors per amplifier board. Mosfet transistors advantages are numerous compared to usual bipolar transistors. Lower ‘ON’ resistance and the way that the power is identically distributed between the transistors makes them more efficient to transmit more power to the load rather than dissipating it as useless heat. Mosfet technology also has higher switching speed resulting in a faster, sharper and more accurate response compared to bipolar systems. The output stage is biased with a precise voltage to set the operating point of the power transistors to get extremely low THD and exceptional audio performances (THD of 0.01% for 200W on a 8Ω load in stereo and bi-amp mode). Thermal compensation of the output stage has been also developed in order to avoid overheating the transistors when they are strongly solicited. Several internal protections are constantly monitoring the instantaneous power consumption, power supplies voltages and currents and heat sink temperatures of the amplifier.

The two low-noise power transformers are able to provide a total amount of power of 2000VA to the amplifier when used in mono mode. The total capacitance of the power supplies in mono mode is more than 180mF. The oversized power supplies guarantees the unit to provide large peak currents and stable voltages even when delivering high output power. Heat sinks have been cleverly integrated into the chassis to optimize heat dissipation assuring perfect operating conditions. Its outstanding specifications, imposing size and weight (50kg) is followed by refined and stylish curves that makes this anodized aluminium piece of art remarkably stand apart from conventional amplifiers.

Unlike the conventional feedback loops found in the vast majority of traditional amplifiers, the proprietary Orpheus Feed Back Loop (FBL) monitors both voltage and current provided on the speakers and executes corrections as required at extreme high speeds for rock-solid stability to maintain the purity of the audio signal. Orpheus FBL constant power amplification modules ensure coherent and lightning-fast response across the entire frequency spectrum, regardless of the speaker's load In the presence of a resistive load, the 350W mono amplifier acts as a voltage amplifier. In the presence of a reactive load, the load is controlled during transients current and adjusted to meet the requirements of the speaker.

Housing this level of power and performance in such an elegant low-profile enclosure optimizes the ultra-short signal path. The transformer is ideally positioned to eliminate interference between the careful selected active and passive components. With its supremely neutral sound and without any identifiable sonic fingerprints this amplifier is worthy of taking place in the finest audio systems, where they will bring out the best from any audio source.

The Classic stereo amplifier will provide its power to any serious loudspeaker and therefore all the audio system will benefit from the refined level of technology implemented in the Orpheus power amplifiers.

The Absolute Integrated Amplifier is our latest Absolute line product. It has an output power of 2 x 160 Watts. The Absolute Integrated Amplifier has been designed to combine the strength of the preamplifier and the dual mono bloc amplifier. This means that there are 3 units inside so there is one amplification stage per channel.

The product has the possibility to have two options, the Phono Stage and the Digital Input that makes a single and unique device. The Digital Input has a D/A Converter from ESS Sabre 32 and the USB supports playback of DSD files over USB.

All internal wiring has been designed and built to have the least disruption to the signal. There is also a cooling system to help regulate the internal temperature.
